A return to form

Been making some big life changes recently, and I am excited to say my creativity is returning. Creative block is one of the most frustrating and depressing things that I have been through in my life. It has been something that has come naturally, and to be without has been awful. Looking forward to adding to this blog with my progress. Stay tuned.

Froghaus

This project was fun, albeit challenging working with so many different points of view. I had a friend use his fancy camera, some thousand dollar Canon. When I got there he forgot about the pictures and was in the middle of moving, so he took them on his nasty kitchen floor. It is safe to say that these guys are shopped up a decent amount, there was a lot of hair on the floor for some reason. I really like the idea of this project and plan to add to it throughout the summer, hopefully some of these projects will be further along so I can have more content to work with. I think making a full book, or perhaps a LuLu of the Hazmat comic would be awesome. The project is from top to bottom: Alien Jumper Cables and Asparagus, which are PC games, Jack the Vampire Killer, an independent mockumentary- style movie in blu ray packaging. The other two are a short story titled The Incouragable Mister Jones, and episode one of Hazmat, a comic book placed in South Dakota.

Pork

Forgot to get these off my camera. Here are some shots of Mr. Pig the bacon machine. This project was kind of a nightmare, my crafting skills are not good, to say the least. This monster is made out of paper and paper only. You can't see the opacity on the bacon fat real well, but I used some vellum paper to mimic the shine and glisten of those delicious bastards.

21st Ammendment

Alright a little backstory on this one. First thing is unless you are a fairly established beer snob you may not know that Cold Spring Brewery produces some of the most foul beverages known to man. So it was that I was out for a few drinks with friends when one of them started complaining about the 21'st Amendment beer. He made comments on how the packaging was cool and it was ten bucks so he decided to try it. Nowhere on the packaging did it proclaim that it was brewed at Cold Spring, so when he found it to be disgusting he did some research and found, to his dismay where the nasty beer had originated. I just thought this was a nice example of how package design created an ideal of quality, where none existed.

Sustainability in design

For the most part of my life thinking about the environment has been far from my mind. I'm not saying I would go out and burn tires and throw garbage into lakes, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do simple things like recycle. Last year when the ocean was poisoned by those British assholes I began thinking a lot more about the effect we have on our planet. For this packaging project sustainability has been a constant thought on my mind, with ideas about utilizing packaging that is made from recycled plastic and cardboard, to making something that you would keep around like a box that transforms into a piece of art you can hang up.

Logo Final Comment please.

The top two logo's are what I am leaning towards, any comments critiques are very welcome. The company focuses on publishing quirky entertainment media products IE books, movies, video games, comics, music etc.
