Illustrator stuff

One of the big things I want to work on this Summer is program knowledge. Here is some older stuff I did in Illustrator.
Replication of a photo.

Combination of Bob Dylan Record in the type and style of Iron Maiden.

Abstraction of a classical painting.

Sustainability in design

For the most part of my life thinking about the environment has been far from my mind. I'm not saying I would go out and burn tires and throw garbage into lakes, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do simple things like recycle. Last year when the ocean was poisoned by those British assholes I began thinking a lot more about the effect we have on our planet. For this packaging project sustainability has been a constant thought on my mind, with ideas about utilizing packaging that is made from recycled plastic and cardboard, to making something that you would keep around like a box that transforms into a piece of art you can hang up.

Thoughts on packaging

As this course breaches mid-season, and heads straight towards the fiery depths of May, I find myself trying to think about what has really struck a chord.
The one thing I can say without doubt, is the attention I now find myself paying to package design. It has been such an afterthought for most of my life, though I know it has influenced my purchases. Even before considering graphic design as a major I would always be attracted to new and exciting things in stores.
From my readings it is now greatly apparent the lengths of trickery that people go to in order to get the product from the shelf, into your home.
It has been very challenging thinking in the third dimension, and as I go forward I fear craft will always be a burden I must struggle with. I would love to create sculpture-esque fantastic packaging yet fear I lack the skills necessary, and thus not have the ability to strike out, as much as possible, at the consumer.
Only time will tell.

Stout Poster Design

This GUY does some amazing movie posters. He uses great limited colors and it looks like its all vector illustration. Very cool stuff. If you want to purchase you pretty much need to be lucky; everything he makes sells out very very quickly.
